How often should a child visit a dentist ?

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE

Ideally every child should visit the pediatric dentist every 6 months starting from the time the first tooth erupts.  Starting to bring the child to the dentist from an early age ensures a positive dental attitude which in turn will help to have a tantrum and tear free dental visit which is a relief for the child, the parent and the dentist.

If the parents religiously bring the child to the dentist every 6 months it helps in making it easier to treat the child after every visit because the child becomes more comfortable with the dental set up. This will not only help the children attain good dental health in their childhood but will also help them in achieving and maintaining good dental health throughout their life.

6 monthly visits permit the dentist to monitor the numerous changes happening in the child’s mouth from the falling of all milk teeth to the eruption of all the permanent teeth, a lot changes from the age 0 to 17 years including the shape of the jaw. This will help the dentist identify the problem in its nascent stage which will make it easier to treat.

A lot of people consider the absence of pain as the absence of problem and think it is okay to skip the visit to the dentist but 6 monthly cleaning is extremely crucial and its benefit will be felt well into adulthood and even in the child’s old age.

The whole idea is to not only have good dental health but also to maintain it.

Sometimes due to the busy their busy schedules parents forget to keep track of their child’s dental visits but no worries!  Our team at Vasupujya Dental Clinic try to make things easier for them by sending an SMS, E-Mail and call to the parents reminding them about their appointment so that they never miss one and the smile of their child remains intact.
